The BeachGolfLife Insider — February 2026
Off-Season Secrets & Spring Planning
I played 18 holes at Barefoot Resort last Tuesday for $62. The course was mine — not another group in sight for three holes in either direction. Temperature: 61 degrees, no wind. The overseeded rye fairways were playing like carpet. In June, that same round costs $130 and you’re waiting on every tee box.
That’s February on the Grand Strand — and it’s the kind of insider tip this newsletter exists to deliver. One email per month, no fluff, no filler. Just local knowledge from someone who lives here.
What’s Happening This Month
February in NMB is the quiet season — and that’s exactly why locals love it. The beaches are empty, the restaurants don’t have waits, and the golf courses are yours for the taking. But “quiet” doesn’t mean “nothing going on.”
Here’s what’s on the calendar right now:
At the Alabama Theatre (Barefoot Landing):
– ICONIC — The Alabama Theatre’s brand-new variety show is running Feb 5–12 and Feb 17. Music, comedy, dance — a polished production you wouldn’t expect at a beach town venue.
– NEEDTOBREATHE — Sunday, Feb 15 at 7 PM. This is one of the biggest names to ever play the Alabama Theatre. If you’re in town, don’t miss it.
– Ultimate Neil Diamond Tribute (Jay White) — Feb 21
– The Seven Wonders (Fleetwood Mac tribute) — Feb 28. Back by popular demand.
At the House of Blues (Barefoot Landing):
– Dropkick Murphys — Feb 15 at 6 PM. St. Patrick’s Day Tour — high-energy punk meets Celtic.
– Zoso (Led Zeppelin tribute) — Feb 20
– Chicago Rewired / REO Survivor — Feb 27
Both venues are about 8 minutes from the condo. Read our full Alabama Theatre & House of Blues spring show guide for the complete schedule through March.
Coming up in March:
– St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Festival — March 14 on Main Street. The 35th annual, ~40,000 people, walkable from the condo. This is a big one.
– Spring break peaks March 16–22. Our spring break planning guide has everything you need.
The Local Scoop
New restaurants are coming to NMB in 2026 — and we’re genuinely excited about a few of them:
- White Heron is taking over the old Sea Merchants space on Hwy 17 S — upscale coastal seafood, expected to open in May. About 5 minutes from the condo.
- Alley Oops is a “Dine. Bowl. Play.” concept combining a full restaurant with bowling, arcade, and VR. A potential game-changer for rainy days.
- Crave Italian Oven & Bar is expanding to NMB — brick oven pizzas, fresh pasta, full bar.
We’ll post full reviews once we’ve actually eaten there. No recommendations until we try the food — that’s our promise. Read more in our new restaurants guide.
Spring events to put on your calendar now:
– SOS Spring Safari (April 17–26) — 10 days of shag dancing on Main Street. If you’ve never experienced the Shag in its hometown, this is the event.
– Blue Crab Festival (May 16–17) — 50,000+ attendees, 250 vendors, Little River Waterfront. The Grand Strand’s biggest annual event. Full guide here.
Insider Tip of the Month
February and early March are the best-kept secret on the Grand Strand for golf.
Here’s why: courses are in excellent winter condition (dormant bermuda, but overseeded rye is green and playing well), rates are at their absolute lowest of the year, and you can get on any course you want — no advance booking stress.
A round at a course that costs $120 in June might run you $55–70 right now. Multi-round packages from Barefoot Resort extend into early March with up to 30% savings. Sea Trail and River’s Edge are running winter promos too.
The weather? February highs average 58–62°F. Not beach weather, but perfect golf weather — especially with no humidity. Layer up in the morning, peel layers off by the back nine.
If you’re a golfer who’s flexible on dates, February through mid-March is the move. Check our golf course guide for the best courses near the condo, and our spring break golf deals section for specific pricing.

P.S. If you’re a golfer who can travel in the next 30 days, this is the email to act on. Winter rates disappear around March 13, and the courses are as empty as they’ll be all year. The round I mentioned at the top — $62 at Barefoot Resort, course to myself — that window closes in weeks. Check availability and plan your trip →
